San Diego Functional Medicine

Holistic, Patient-Centered Care for Residents of Encinitas and Beyond

At Calispine, we treat the mind and body together, providing a comprehensive treatment approach to functional medicine in San Diego. We believe in patient-centered care, meaning we focus on treating the whole person as opposed to an injury or disease. Instead of finding the fastest way to eradicate your pain and symptoms, we search for the root of your problem. We recognize your individuality instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

What Is Functional Medicine?

Functional medicine is a systems biology–based, patient-centered approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease, illness, and/or pain. This model encourages patients and practitioners to work with one another to address the underlying cause of injury and disease. It requires a solid understanding of a patient’s health and lifestyle and leverages this information to create a direct tailored treatment plans that leads to an overall improved outcome.

By addressing the root cause of the disease or pain, rather than the symptoms, we are able to target what is causing such a response and address it head on.

What Is a Functional Medicine Chiropractor?

A functional medicine chiropractor takes a holistic approach to treating clients, focusing on optimizing the entire body to promote full-body healing and wellness.

Chiropractic care is one component of functional medicine as it helps patients achieve optimal health. Where some chiropractors mainly focus on traditional spinal manipulation, Calispine offers a more integrated approach, utilizing functional medicine to address our clients holistically. We are dedicated to finding the root cause of disease and pain, instead of just addressing your symptoms.

Our Functional Medicine Services

We provide the following functional medicine services in San Diego: Lab testing, nutrition coaching, supplement protocols, and Nutritional IV therapies.

Lab testing can include any of the following:

Food sensitivity testing

Food sensitivity testing can help identify common foods in your diet that may be causing inflammation and/or delayed food reactions. This information can help you understand what foods to eliminate from your diet to help alleviate your symptoms. After, you can create an individualized meal and supplementation plan to fit your needs.

Neural Zoomer Plus

The Neural Zoomer Plus identifies autoimmune markers, blood barrier disruption in your brain, and inflammation that could be impacting how it is functioning. Patients who recently suffered from a concussion, brain injury, brain fog, cognitive issues, or balance issues are great candidates for Neural Zoomer Plus.

Wheat Zoomer

The Wheat Zoomer test can detect gluten sensitivities, intestinal permeability, and celiac disease.

Nutritional coaching

Nutrition coaches inspire and motivate their clients to achieve their goals and make long-term changes to their diet and lifestyle. From disease prevention to weight loss and stress management, nutrition coaches are able to positively impact their client’s health and well-being in a variety of ways.
