The Calispine Method to Reduce Pain, Improve Posture and Prepare for Daily Activites

calispine-method-custom-treatmentWhat do we do at CaliSpine that makes our patient care so successful? It isn’t any ONE thing that we do that allows patients to reach their goals. We use a multitude of techniques to reduce a patient’s pain, improve their posture, and prepare them for their sport or daily activity. We call the combination of these techniques the CaliSpine Method.

What is the CaliSpine Method?

calispine-chiropractor-custom-therapy-methodThe CaliSpine method begins with a sense of relatedness and understanding for the patient and their concerns or needs. We do not simply work on our patients without first understanding their level of dedication and what they want to achieve. Patients looking for a “quick fix” do not realize that 99% of injuries need more than a “quick fix” to prevent the injury from recurring in the future.

We make sure that a patient is in the right mindset to dedicate the time required to improve their body’s posture and function. Each patient receives a custom tailored combination of physical therapy, deep tissue work, adjustments, traction, nutrition consultation, lifting, Olympic techniques, and more. Since every patient is different, one patient may only need adjustments and traction, while another may benefit from deep tissue work, adjustments, physical therapy, or proper lifting techniques.

Common Injuries We See

We work on the whole body, from head to toe; here is a list of the top injuries that we see in our office weekly:

  1. Lower Back Pain (35%)
  2. Shoulder and Mid Back Pain (20%)
  3. Neck Pain (20%)
  4. Hip and Knee Pain (15%)
  5. Elbow Pain (7%)
  6. Other Extremity Injuries (3%)

Pain Relief Phase

This pain-relief-therapyis where a majority of patients begin their therapy. For patients who come to us already in pain, it is difficult for them to perform most exercises without causing more pain. In this instance, we have patients complete a few very simple physical therapy exercises to help improve mobility and strengthen their posture.

These initial exercises are to be performed at home daily by the patient, while we perform deep tissue work, traction techniques, and spinal manipulation/adjustments in our office. This process is usually completed twice a week, for up to a month.

Mobilization and Strength Phase

mobility-strength-training-chiropractor-treatmentOnce a patient is no longer in pain, we recommend that they further their treatment by mobilizing and strengthening their full body to improve posture. This phase is meant to teach a patient how to control the movement of their body by different lifting techniques, crawling patterns, and pressing/pulling motions. Patients are taught how to apply these motions in their daily lives, not just in the gym or their sport. By practicing these techniques daily, posture and function will begin to improve.

Performance Phase

This phase of treatment is meant for patients that have been through Performance-Training-Custom-Chiropractic-Caremonths of mobilization and strength and are now completely pain free. In rare cases, we do have patients that fit this category within a few weeks of their initial exam due to their level of athleticism and functional awareness.

It does not matter what your fitness background is, as we will set you up for success in whatever sport or activity you enjoy. This phase encompasses circuit training, Olympic lifting, strength training, sprinting and anaerobic power drills, advanced balancing techniques, basic gymnastics skills, and more. Patients generally decide to stay in this phase for months or even years.
